Electric scooters - the most important information and models

Electric scooter - the most important information:
E-scooters are available in a variety of designs and shapes. Here we would like to go into more detail about the different variants. We explain the driving license situation, introduce some manufacturers and their models, and provide information about the suitability of electric scooters for different situations.
Driver's license:
All electric scooters we offer in the “e-scooter” & “e-scooter” category are approved throughout Europe within the framework of the StVZO. In Germany, these vehicles usually require a driving license.
E-scooters up to 20 km/h and electric scooters with a maximum speed of 25 km/h ("mopeds") are exempt from the driving license requirement. People born before 1965 can drive these vehicles without hesitation. Younger road users (aged 15 and over) only need a moped test certificate for this class.
Electric scooters with a maximum speed of 45 km/h and a maximum rated continuous power of 4 kW may be driven with a class B car driving license or a class AM driving license (from 15 years of age). The driving licenses of classes A1, A2 and A also include this driving license.
Electric scooters with a maximum speed of more than 45 km/h up to 120 km/h and a maximum output of 11 kW require a class A1 driving license or the car driving license extension B196 (at least 5 years of obtaining a driving license). People who acquired their car driving license before April 1, 1980 do not need an additional driving license for this type of scooter. The A1 (Class 125) driving license can be obtained from the age of 16.
Different regulations apply to three-wheeled vehicles. Three-wheeled vehicles with a design-related maximum speed of 45 km/h, a nominal continuous power of max. 4 kW and a max. unladen weight of 270 kg may already be driven with the AM driving license class. Three-wheeled vehicles with a maximum power of up to 15 kW require a driving license class A1. With a class B car driving license, three-wheeled vehicles with an engine output of more than 15 kW can be driven, provided that the holder of the driving license is at least 21 years old (this regulation only applies in Germany).
